Cushion Styling 101:

Okay, we've got the lowdown on the hottest decor trend of 2024! Whether you're all about that eclectic vibe, or you lean towards minimalism, get ready to fall in love with the layered and mismatched cushion trend! Typically, throw cushions are meant to match and create a cohesive look in your space. But this year, we're throwing caution to the wind and embracing a little design rebellion – how scandalous!

Let's start by laying down your base layer of cushions. These should feature solid tones, acting as the foundation for your cushion ensemble. You can either use the cushions that came with your furniture or opt for ones that reflect the style you're aiming for. Feeling moody? Consider darker tones in luxurious materials like velvet. Craving a minimalist, airy feel? Go for linens and cotton in light, earthy hues like oat. If you've got a sectional sofa, placing two of these cushions on either end can help balance it out. And if you have a sofa and an accent chair, try matching one cushion to tie it all together!

Next up, it's time to introduce some patterns. Mix and match to your heart's content – there are no rules here! Just be mindful not to overcrowd with too many patterns, as it can overwhelm the space. Aim for clusters of 1 to 3 cushions. Choose patterns that speak to your soul and bring you joy. Maximalist? Go wild with pattern mixes. Prefer a more conservative style? Stick to 1 or 2 printed cushions. Prints can make a bold statement or soften the overall look – think bold geometrics versus soft organics and florals. Place your prints front and center or off to the side to showcase their beauty.

Now, onto the final layer – texture! This is where the magic happens. We're absolutely obsessed with Sherpa this year – it's like the cozy cousin of the furry cushion we all know and love, but with a more toned-down vibe. If Sherpa isn't your thing, opt for a chunky knit or woven fabric instead. Textured cushions add depth and visual interest to your space, making them the perfect complement to prints. Nestle these textured gems in the back or off to the side, leaving room for your prints to shine!

And just like that, you've got yourself the perfect cushion sandwich! We hope you enjoy embracing this intentionally undone trend as much as we do. So go ahead, unleash your inner rule-breaker, and remember to have fun with it!
